The Girl in the Ice by Lotte Hammer. This book was a total disappointment for me. I have so enjoyed the Inspector Erlendur and the Inspector Van Veeteren series that perhaps I expected too much. Perhaps also this author thought they could come up with an imitation or something close to those stories. WRONG.
The Girl in the Ice is a riveting read, a real intense page-turner, deeply engrossing with twists and turns at every angle. The story is set in London (present day) and begins with a gripping extract of a lone girl on her way home from a night out, realising that someone is following her in a blacked out car, and that she is very much alone in the dark with no mobile phone signal.
