Storyline The Revenge of Robert
Germany, 1941. Two secret agents, one working for British intelligence and the other working for the Nazis, board a train. Their mission is to find a Toymaker who is in possession of a mystical book which gives life to the inanimate. A cash strapped student who starts working the night shift at a Museum suspects that one of the exhibits, a creepy vintage doll named Robert, is alive and wreaking havoc after hours.
Robert does a better job at looking creepy with just one expression. There are few plus points with The Revenge of Robert the Doll: the camera quality throughout is clear and clean, with the occasional nice shot (lunar transforming trains aside). The music is okay too, adding some atmosphere to some scenes.
THE REVENGE OF ROBERT THE DOLL is part of a British indie horror film series that feels heavily inspired by the PUPPET MASTER franchise. It's about an aged toy maker who makes a doll which proceeds to come to lift with murderous intentions. Sadly, while this film is fairly well shot and put together, it doesn't feel like a horror film at all.
Revenge Of Robert is a great addition to the series. I think fans will be pleased, I enjoyed the backstory on the Toymaker and what a nice surprise ending! Excellent scenery and very well shot film. Andrew Jones is the new king of killer puppets! If you enjoyed the other 3 Robert movies, definitely check this out.
